We'd love to work with you!

Holiday Greetings from Executive Director Jan Logan

Thu, 12/19/2013 - 16:57 -- Anna

With the Holiday Season upon us, we take time to reflect on how fortunate we are to have our family, friends, home and resources. It is truly a time to give thanks and remember those who may not be as fortunate as we are.

I'd like to share with you some of the highlights of the past year made possible through your generosity and support.

Children Learn What They Live - Renee Latterell, PsyD, LP

Thu, 12/19/2013 - 16:44 -- Anna

Regular stress is ok and normal. However, the stress induced when a child is exposed to alcohol/drug abuse, domestic violence, physical and sexual abuse, emotional and physical neglect can overwhelm the body’s stress response system and traumatize the child. Not all children or adults for that matter are traumatized by traumatic events. Children are likely to be traumatized:  1) when they perceive the event as scary and life threatening to themselves or someone close to them; and 2) they don’t have the coping skills to deal with it.

The Impact of A Girls Support Group

Thu, 12/19/2013 - 15:05 -- Anna

On November 14th, the attendees of our Children’s Breakfast heard from a courageous young woman and participant in the support groups LCRC provides in area schools. What you will read below is her story.  It is her journey in her own words depicting the tragic childhood she experienced and how the Girls Group impacted and changed her life.  The names have been changed.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thu, 11/28/2013 - 17:04 -- Anna

Thanksgiving is the most appropriate day for all of us at the Lakes Crisis & Resource Center to reach out and wish all of our clients and supporters a Happy Thanksgiving.    We have so much to be thankful for.  To the clients we serve -- thank you for coming to us and trusting us in your time of need.  To our supporters -- thank you for the role you play in ensuring that we are there and have the necessary resources when the phones and doorbells ring.  We are thankful for you all.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Childcare Help Needed

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 17:50 -- Anna

Mary's Place has been in operation for over 1.5 years now.  It has been a challenging and rewarding experience; and we've learned a lot!  One need we quickly assessed was that a childcare position would be paramount in allowing Mary's Place residents to work towards their goals.  As all of you mothers and fathers know, parenting can be mentally, emotionally and physically taxing and a break is not only welcomed but needed.

Grateful * Humbled

Fri, 11/15/2013 - 04:30 -- Anna

Words cannot express how appreciative we are of the support that has been shown for LCRC today.  For those who stuck with it and kept trying to donate throughout the website crash - THANK YOU!  Watching our donations grow throughout the day and into the evening has been inspiring.  The morale boost it gives staff to know that so many people support their hard work is something that can't be put into words.  The financial contributions received sustain our programs.  The thoughtfulness & care sustains our staff.
