October is Domestic Violence month.

Domestic violence affects more than you know. Men, women, and children can all be vicitims. It is important to acknowledge the existence of domestic violence and to have hard conversations with friends and loved ones on the topic. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed a decree proclaiming October as Domestic Violence month. That's how important this issue is.

Wednesday September 19, 2019, a group of like-minded gathered at Meadows on Lind and enjoyed a wonderful lunch catered by La Barista.  These supportive women learned that their 2019 contribution will afford upgrades to LCRC’s surveillance and audio recording system for ongoing safety and security to staff, shelter residents, men, women, and children on the property.

Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Event

LCRC is a member of the recently formed Becker County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), which also includes representatives from the County Attorney’s office, local law enforcement, Essentia Health, and other local social services agencies. The goal of SART is to “ensure the integrity and quality of the criminal justice process while meeting the needs of the victims and holding offenders accountable.”

Mental Health program at LCRC

Through our mental health program, we are able to provide violence and trauma-focused mental health services to individuals who come to LCRC through our advocacy program, shelter program, parenting time center or through referrals from our community. By providing a comprehensive continuum of mental health services, we aspire to help adults and children who have experienced violence and trauma lead healthier lives with improved mental health.

May: Mental Health and Supervised Visitation Awareness month

The term is often used to refer to parenting time that occurs with mental health professionals providing therapy/counseling during a supervised visit between the non-custodial parent and child. Therapeutic parenting time might be ordered in a case where there is a strained relationship between the parent and child or some other history between the parent and child that warrants some type of professional mental health assistance to make it safe.  Minnesota Fathers Organization
