National Mentorship Month
January brought us National Mentorship Month – an opportunity to recognize all who selflessly share a gift of their time and compassion with a child enrolled in our Kinship Program. Through Kinship, LCRC establishes quality relationships between caring adult mentors and children in our community. Through the mentoring relationships, stability and support are founded and lasting friendships are formed.
Giving Hearts Day 2017 – February 9, 2017
Lakes Area Kinship is a mentoring program for children that improves lives by helping establish quality relationships between youth that are between the ages of 5 & 16 and caring adult volunteers for the purpose of promoting stability, support, friendship, and community.
Donors, thank you so much for participating in last year’s Give to the Max Day, a yearly online event run by GiveMN.org. Your donations have helped more than you could imagine and now you have an amazing chance to help again this year. Give to the Max Day starts November 1st and ends November 17th, that means you have 17 days to donate!
Give to the Max Day is November 17. Your support is critical to achieve our mission! Because of the generous support from BTD, all donations up to $10,000 will be matched dollar for dollar & double your impact.
The following letter was written by a woman who resided in our shelter, Mary’s Place, this year. It is her story, in her own words.
I was an educator with a Master’s Degree and a very successful career. I raised two wonderful children. Everyone in my family thought I was happy. However, I was a domestic violence victim and I hid the secret, my unhappiness, and the abuse from everyone.
